⚡️ About Nomos

We transform businesses into full-service energy providers by abstracting all legal and operational complexity of an electricity retailer into a simple API layer. Two years in, Europe’s leading solar and heat pump retailers are building their energy business on Nomos.

Nomos exists to eliminate energy costs for 200 million European households. We achieve this by developing new energy products with Europe’s leading technology companies and including them as embedded features for electric vehicles, heat pumps, battery storage systems and more.

We raised capital from tier-1 investors, including the founders of Soundcloud, Forto, Swan, Dance, Enode, Polarstern Energie, and more.

You will join a lean, talent-dense team and work directly with Nils (CTO). Started by Stefan (CEO) and Nils in 2024, the Nomos team now consists of former researchers, founders and senior engineers united by a deep frustration of the current energy system and the vision to build a category leading enterprise out of Europe.

We work in a beautiful office in Berlin-Mitte. We strive to build a strong culture of effective communication, ownership and belonging. In this critical phase of our venture this translates to working in-person in Berlin with a truly exceptional group of hackers and painters.

What you’ll do

Ship fast. Your main responsibility will be to add new features end-to-end. We move super fast without much overhead while balancing security and high-quality code. You will be working closely with Nils (CTO).

Own features end-to-end. As an API-first company like Stripe, we are building a core API layer, an admin cockpit and hosted frontend components. As the founding engineer you will be pivotal in architecting all of the above.

Build the culture you always wanted. You will shape their engineering culture, tech setup and help to recruit and guide the core engineering team.

Solve challenging technical problems across the stack, focus on areas you are most excited about and that bring value to customers.
Build out core features and maintain our API layer, and the customer facing products (incl. hosted checkout, dashboard, customer portal).
Be a learning machine! We want you to grow with us and solve hard challenges that lie outside your comfort zone.

You should be familiar with Typescript based full-stack applications. We value high learning velocity, so we trust that you can pick up a new language/framework quickly if you're currently working with a different stack.
